There is a flu bug making it’s rounds here in the Fargo area. Unfortunately, that flu bug bit me over a week ago. I am still not 100% back to normal. But last night and into today, I think I’ve seen great improvement. Fortunately, my Hero On A Mission (HOAM) Life Plan and Daily Planner Sheets helped me navigate the past 10 days as successfully as I could. Here’s how.
Priorities
Because I’d pre-determined my priorities in my Life Plan it was easy to pick what I did and didn’t do with the energy available to me. My Goal Planning Worksheets were especially helpful. In those worksheets had put in writing my top goals for this quarter. So, when I only had two or three hours of productive time and energy available to me several days this past week, I knew what tasks or Zoom meetings I needed to miss and which ones to postpone or cancel. That was really helpful.
One Zoom coaching session I did prioritize with a young entrepreneur here in Fargo was especially rewarding. It was our first Coaching session. I’m helping her create a brandscript for her website design business. The hour flew bye quickly. At the end of the session, she was extremely pleased with the work that we accomplished identifying the problem she helps her customers solve. We also talked through the transformation her customers experience when they work with her. It was really energizing.
I talked to her fiancé about four days later and he said, “She said your coaching session with her was great. She felt like you knew exactly what she was thinking. It really helped her out.” That’s the kind of feedback that fuels me.
Health Is a Priority
I’ve mentioned this before. I’m a hard-worker and I’m a doer. When I’ve been sick in the past, I’ve often neglected my body and just powered through work. Even when my body was begging me, “Please, just go home and sleep and get better!” I’ve struggled with giving myself permission to do that. But one of the elements of the HOAM 10-Year, 5-Year, and 1-Year Vision Statements is a Health section. It reminds me just how important taking care of my health is.
So, although I didn’t like it, I took lots of naps. And I cancelled, postponed, and rescheduled several meetings. It is frustrating to wait for the bug to run its course. But I’ve taken my health for granted too many times in the past. It is time to stop doing that. Being a HOAM helped me say, “No!” to pushing through and making things even worse.
